About us:
Vitell is a UK based Asterisk, Linux and RouterOS consultancy and telecoms service provider specialising in bespoke vendor-independent solutions for the office and call centre environments. Our client base is spread over the UK and over 50% of our business is generated from word of mouth referral. In addition to providing IT and Telephony hardware, Vitell also offer consulting services to business experiencing problems with their current systems or wishing to deploy new systems across their business.
We have provided Asterisk systems since 2004 and have presented to conferences at Astricon Europe 2005, Astricon UK 2006, Astricon USA 2006, Astricon USA 2007 and Digium Asterisk World 2008. We provide consultancy services to national and international organisations (the US, Malaysia and South Africa), including three FTSE 100 companies and we are the preferred Asterisk training provider for an international telecommunications company!
Our main areas of expertise are: Asterisk, TrixBox, FreePBX, FreeSwitch, VoIP, Linux, VMS, network design, management and maintanace and network security. We are able to undertake short or long term projects as well as ad-hoc hourly based work.
Asterisk
"Asterisk is the world's leading open source PBX, telephony engine, and telephony applications toolkit."
We started working with the Asterisk platform in the summer of 2004. We provide consultancy, support, maintenance and training for the Asterisk platform. Our senior partner, Nick Barnes, has spoken at Astricon conferences in the US (Arizona, Georgia and Texas), Spain and the UK. In addition, we have provided Asterisk training for UK and international clients. We're not allowed to name names, but we have provided Asterisk training for a very large British communications PLC!
To compliment our Asterisk skills, we offer hosted telephony services, call routing and a completely customisable communications infrastructure.
Linux
"Linux is a free Unix-type operating system originally created by Linus Torvalds with the assistance of developers around the world."
We have been working with Linux for over fifteen years and currently provide consultancy, support and maintenance for the Linux OS.
RouterOS
RouterOS is MikroTik's OS for x86 hardware and their own Routerboards. RouterOS provides features such as routing, firewalling, bandwidth management, wireless access point, backhaul link, hotspot gateway, VPN server and more. Due to its cost (a unit suitable for a medium sized office is priced at around GBP60) and feature set, it is fast becoming the de-facto edge device. Popular in continental Europe for some time, RouterOS is now making headway in the UK and we are pleased to be able to offer consultancy, support, maintenance and training for these amazing devices.
Broadband
Be it voice or data, no modern application can function without reliable Internet connection. We are pleased to be able to offer Leased Lines, ADSL and (from April 2009) Ethernet connections to your doorstep. Unlike most ISPs, we are able to provide redundant connections with automatic failover, bonded ADSL lines and as many real IP addresses as you can justify.

Telecommuting can be bad. If you don't.
Timothy Golden, associate professor in the Lally School of Management & Technology at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, sampled 240 professional employees from an unnamed medium-sized company to observe how telecommuting affects employees who stay in the office. He 'found that in-office employees took less satisfaction in their jobs and felt less of a relationship and obligation to their company as the number of telecommuting coworkers grew'. In-office employees in his study became disappointed at having fewer and weaker relationships. They also got frustrated at a perceived increase in workload and difficulties that telecommuting can present to finishing projects and building strong working relationships. Read more here. If you'd like to integrate teleworkers into your business, Vitell can help. With a complete range of VoIP solutions and remote access solutions, we can help you make your workforce happier and more productive!
